2017-2018 Nathan Hale Basketball Tryout Schedule

Girls - PLEASE WEAR PRACTICE JERSEY IF YOU HAVE ONE!!!

The coaching staff is extremely excited for the season to start.  The Nathan Hale Girls Basketball program offers teams at the Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshman levels.

TRYOUTS:
You must be academically eligible to tryout. You must also have the following completed.

If your daughter was involved with a fall sport, the only form needed is the Emergency/HIPPA form.

If this is the first sport for your son this year they will need the following forms prior to trying out.

  1. Emergency/HIPPA form
  2. Your Physical or Alternate year card up to date
  3. Athletic/Activity Code of Conduct form
  4. Concussion forms

Prior to the start of the season eligible players will need to turn in forms. To download forms and further information please visit the Hale Athletics website by clicking HERE. There is a $60 athletic participation fee that will need to be paid once the teams are set.

Please check with the athletic office prior to tryouts to verify that all required forms are in!

November 6th 5:30-8:30 pm
November 7th 7:00-9:30 pm
November 8th 5:30-8:30 pm

Junior Varsity
November 6th 5:00-7:00 pm
November 7th 5:00-7:00 pm
November 8th 5:00-7:00 pm

Freshmen
November 6th 3:15-5:30 pm
November 7th 3:15-5:00 pm
November 8th 3:15-5:30 pm

*All freshmen will tryout for the freshman level unless they are specifically talked to

*All sophomores will tryout for the junior varsity level unless they are specifically talked to

*All juniors & seniors will tryout for the varsity level unless they are specifically talked to

*Please come prepared the first day with proper clothing, proper athletic shoes, and all forms turned in

The coaching staff is very excited to get started with the season. Tryouts can be a challenging time and experience so work hard, hustle, be positive and do your best.

The staff reserves the right to go longer or shorten the number of days necessary for tryouts based on the number of participants and decisions that need to be made to properly select teams.

Cuts may be made on each day depending on evaluations.

Shoes:  There will be a team/program shoe this season however if you do not order the team/program shoe there will be restrictions.  ONLY colors white, gray, forest green, and black will be allowed (or combinations of those).  Questions should be directed to the coaches if in doubt prior to purchase.

What can YOU do to prepare for tryouts and the season?

Attend conditioning and open gym sessions

Work hard on your school work - TIME MANAGEMENT

When playing ball (offense) on perimeter rip through catching the ball and get into triple threat each and every time (too often too many players catch the ball and immediately dribble)

When playing offense work on back cuts and setting screens (both away from the ball to free up a teammate or on the ball running a pick and roll)

Rebound, rebound, rebound - if you focus and put effort into rebounding you can be a great asset to any team

Dribbling skills - cannot practice enough

Shooting and free throws (i have never met a good free throw shooter who isn't a good shooter)

Play relentless defense moving feet and being active without fouling

GET IN SHAPE

Work on doing these things - cannot just do some of them some of the time - TIME MANAGEMENT - condition and work on things on your own or with a teammate when time allows
